Two women from Lanzarote are running as candidates for the Beauty Contest of Spain, which will be held on December 8th and 10th in Tenerife, specifically in the Auditorium of La Orotava. The representatives of the island are Xiomara Hernández (25) and Xiomara Cabrera (18), two young women who are preparing to win with the aim of reaching the International Beauty Festival, which will be held next year in Peru (although there is still no confirmed date), after the first contest on the island of Tenerife.

A national contest organized by Ana Pilar Suárez, the director of contests such as 'Miss World Las Palmas' and 'Miss Universe Canarias'. The organizer confirms that "the final gala of the contest will be held on December 9 in La Orotava". But there will also be "rehearsals, interviews with the jury, an official dinner", among other activities. In addition, she encourages young women from Lanzarote to sign up for the contest, for which "there are still places available": "More misses are needed, therefore, the deadline is still open for girls who want to sign up."

Regarding the candidacy of the two girls who are already signed up, she says that "they have to start with important contests to be able to train, since they don't have much experience". The way they have managed to participate has been "contacting me". Then, "I went to see them on the island and we decided to start with the tests, photographs, etc.", she adds.

The candidate for the Miss category for Lanzarote, Xiomara Hernández, a 25-year-old who works in a cafeteria in Playa Honda and resides in San Bartolomé, acknowledges that "I'm a little nervous", although "I'm eager to give my all", although "I'm not thinking that I'm going to win", she adds.

For the contest, she is doing physical preparation to take care of her body: "I go to the gym, walk and I'm trying to get my body in shape", she reveals. Although it is true that "they don't ask for any specific requirement, any girl can apply", she emphasizes. As for the wardrobe, she clarifies that "I have a designer who is going to make the costumes by hand", since she has to dress in several garments for the contest.

The candidate for the Teen Miss category Xiomara Cabrera, about to turn 18, confesses that "it's my third contest, but it's my first national one". Although she already has experience, she acknowledges that "I'm really looking forward to going to the Gran Canaria contest and especially to representing Lanzarote". To enter the contest you need "desire and to like this world", says the young woman. But "there is no specific requirement, only the age", she adds.

Regarding the clothing she will wear in the beauty contest, she highlights that "this contest I can choose the evening dress", unlike "other contests I have entered before", she points out.

In addition, it is not the only concern in which Cabrera embarks, "next year I will start studying flight attendant in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria", she anticipates. A profession that "I like because it opens many doors and you get to know places and different cultures", she confesses.
