The volcanic ash cloud from the Cumbre Vieja eruption in La Palma is already affecting the Tenerife Norte airport, where eight diversions and eight other cancellations had been recorded until 5:00 p.m. this Tuesday.

The first ones, corresponding to flights from Madrid, were diverted to the other airport on the island, in Tenerife South. Regarding the cancellations, seven were also flights from Madrid and the other corresponded to a flight from La Gomera.

However, Aena clarifies that the airport is open and that the decision not to fly is up to the airlines.

Regarding the aerodrome of La Palma, Binter has not operated any flight on this day and has already announced that it will not do so on Wednesday either.
