Maritime Rescue has rescued this Tuesday the bodies of two men of Maghreb origin who died on the coasts of Lanzarote.

As confirmed by Salvamento sources to La Voz, a fishing boat that was fishing near the coast found the bodies six miles southeast of the island and notified the emergency services.

According to information published by the Efe Agency, the bodies are of two young men in their 20s. At the time of the collection of the bodies, one of them was wearing a life jacket and the other a tire tube around his chest.

The bodies have appeared in the space of an hour and a half about 11 kilometers from the coast of Lanzarote: one floating at 10:22 a.m. (the one with the tire) and the other already awash at 12:00 p.m.

The fishing boat that made the discovery collected the bodies and handed them over to the Guardamar Urania, which has returned with them to the port of Arrecife after checking the area without finding any more remains. For now, it is unknown from which boat those two young men came.

The Guardamar Urania traveled to the place to collect the two corpses. The Judicial Police have moved to the Port of Arrecife to carry out the removal of the corpses.

However, the crews of Maritime Rescue have witnessed two shipwrecks of boats with immigrants in waters near Lanzarote this weekend: one in which they were able to recover a body and another in which they saw from the rescue helicopter how five people sank lifelessly into the sea.

Since November 1, almost 1,700 immigrants have been rescued in waters near Lanzarote in 33 boats.
