The Titerroy Neighborhood Association has denounced in a press release the "deplorable" state of some streets in the Arrecife neighborhood. This neighborhood space continues to collaborate with public administrations to "identify and resolve" the problems that affect its residents. With this, it has been sending a detailed dossier to the Arrecife City Council on a monthly basis.
However, the residents have expressed their deep indignation at "the lack of attention to their repeated complaints, especially regarding the large potholes that have been reported since August in Segovia and Ávila streets. These roads, with a high flow of traffic due to their proximity to key points such as the Sports Pavilion, the Parish, the Adult School, the Language School, the Lanzarote Teachers' Center and the homes of the 100 Juan Salazar Ortiz families, remain in a critical state, as can be seen in the images."
"Neighborhood collaboration has grown thanks to the email buzontiterroy@gmail.com, where residents send their requests for improvement. Each month, these requests are consolidated into a newsletter that is shared with both the City Council and more than 700 residents, making it clear that the authorities have been informed," the Association clarified.
After more than four months of official notifications to the City Council, the Association has denounced that the situation has not been addressed, "which has generated a progressive and dangerous deterioration. These potholes not only affect the quality of life of the residents, but also represent a constant danger for pedestrians, vehicles, and especially for the most vulnerable, such as children and the elderly," they emphasize.
The frustration is palpable among the residents, "who see how their taxes are not translated into basic improvements such as street maintenance. The lack of effective response has led to damage to vehicles, increased risk of accidents and a general feeling of abandonment by the City Council."
"It is unacceptable that such an obvious and dangerous situation remains unresolved, especially when the competent authorities have been informed repeatedly," the Association stated. The residents have demanded an immediate and effective solution to guarantee the safety and well-being of all the inhabitants of Titerroy.
