The magazine National Geograhic places the Timanfaya National Park in third place of the 20 natural wonders that Spain has. In an article in which it points out that "Spain has a great diversity of landscapes that allow you to enjoy rich contrasts without leaving its borders" and precisely the Canary Islands are present in the list also with Los Pilares de los Órganos and the Garajonay of La Gomera and the Sotavento beach in Fuerteventura.

Regarding Timanfaya, Naional Geographic explains that "this Canarian park is known for its mountains of fire, such as the popular Manto de la Virgen, the Caldera del Corazoncillo and the Montaña Rajada. Its origin dates back to 1730, when the violent eruptions began that lasted in 1736 and, later, in 1824, which covered the south of the island with lava, shaping the morphology of the landscape. Timanfaya is one of the best examples of volcanic terrain without vegetation and offers corners of great beauty such as the popular Charco de los Clicos, a radioactive green lake caused by sulfur and algae and some of the best beaches in the Canary Islands."
