The Civil Guard and Maritime Rescue have rescued this Wednesday a total of 145 immigrants on board three boats with which they were trying to reach the island of Lanzarote.
The first boat has been located about six kilometers from the coast by a Civil Guard patrol boat. There were 49 people of Maghreb origin traveling in the boat, including three women. They have been attended by the Red Cross at the Arrecife Commercial pier.
Almost simultaneously, the Salvamar Al Nair has rescued two other boats of immigrants of sub-Saharan origin who requested help through a satellite telephone about 93 kilometers east of Arrecife. One of them was carrying a total of 53 people, 43 in the other. According to reports from CECOES, between both boats there were a total of 59 men, 29 women, two of whom were pregnant, four minors and four babies. In addition, according to the Red Cross, they have made 9 transfers to Molina Orosa.
Therefore, in less than 48 hours, a total of 145 immigrants have arrived in Lanzarote in less than 24 hours.
