Neighbors and bathers have denounced the "nauseating smell" in the Caletón Blanco area, as a result of the corpse of a cow that has been there for at least five days without being removed.
"It is possibly from an animal freighter, that the animal dies and they irresponsibly throw it into the sea," said the mayor of Haría, Marci Acuña, who has been aware of the appearance of the corpse since Friday. However, he affirms that if it has not been removed it is because "it is in a difficult access area."
"We are looking at the tides and looking for a protocol, because there is no established protocol for this type of incident. We are going to try to mitigate the possible health risks, although we still do not know how we are going to do it, because the area is not accessible with machinery," Acuña said.
However, the northern mayor has specified that the removal of the animal would be "the responsibility of Coasts." "It would not be the City Council responsible for removing it, but we are going to try," Marci Acuña has assured, who, however, has not confirmed when the removal can be carried out. "It is not easy. We are there, calling Health and in contact with the firefighters and looking for a health protocol," insisted the mayor of Haría.
