The heavy storm that fell at noon this Thursday on the island has especially affected Arrecife, where many streets, homes and commercial premises have been flooded.
In some places, the water reached almost to knee height. In addition, many residents have complained about the presence of cockroaches, which have come out of the sewers with the rain.
The storm has also left other more pleasant images, such as improvised "waterfalls" in El Charco de San Ginés.
According to the Security and Emergency Consortium, the storm has discharged 7.44 liters of rain per square meter in Arrecife between 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
The State Meteorological Agency had only activated warnings for wind and coastal phenomena in Lanzarote for this Thursday, but none for rain, so the water spout has surprised the island. However, during the storm it finally activated a yellow warning, although it ended at 4:00 p.m.
