The La Democracia society of Arrecife will once again be the setting for the Cocktail Competition that the Lanzarote Bartender Association organizes every year to celebrate its patron saint, Santa Marta. And as has happened for six years, the celebration will have a solidarity component, which this time will benefit the users of the Food Bank and the supervised apartment of the Mararía association.

The gin-tonic making contest, which already has 11 professionals registered, will take place in the centenary society on Monday, July 29, starting at seven in the afternoon, with free access upon delivery of a kilo of food. The same price will be charged for registration to the Canasta marathon on Saturday morning the 27th, with which La Democracia joins the solidarity objective. The Department of Tourism of the Arrecife City Council, coordinated by Armando Santana, contributes with the trophies.

As the president of the society, Orlando Suárez, recalled at the press conference, to date the proceeds from previous editions have been given to the Food Bank itself, to the young Rayco Díaz for a wheelchair, to Cáritas Lanzarote and to the AFOL association. "And we will continue to collaborate with this initiative, in which, for our part, we have the support of between 80 and 100 Canasta players," he explained.

The secretary of the Lanzarote Bartender Association, Alejandro Acuña, highlighted the trajectory of this solidarity cocktail competition, -which became a gin tonic competition from its second edition-, which shows the creativity and professionalism of the island's experts: "It is worth going through La Democracia to admire and learn from the greats and to try their fantastic combinations."

Finally, the spokesperson for Mararía, María José García, spoke, thanking the Bartender collective, the Democracia Society and the Arrecife City Council for joining forces in the organization of this event, "which in addition to its competitive facet, will serve to mitigate the difficulties of many families on the island."
