The Tourist Centers have acquired three works by the artist César Manrique in the 80s of the last century that belonged to a private collector from Tenerife.
These are two works ‘Untitled’ made in mixed media (collage and painting) on cardboard and on wood respectively, dated in the years 1987 and 1984, and ‘Arrow of Time’, a work also in mixed media on cardboard from 1989.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and of the Board of Directors of the Tourist Centers, María Dolores Corujo, has expressed her "deep" satisfaction with an action that "allows us to recover a part of the creation of our most decisive artist to make it available to the population." In addition, she pointed out that the acquisition of these pieces "provides new elements that contribute to enriching the artistic, cultural and ethnographic heritage of the island".
For his part, the CEO of the Entity, Benjamín Perdomo, has announced that, once acquired, "these works will be incorporated into the collection that the Tourist Centers of the Cabildo of Lanzarote have around the figure of its creator in the International Museum of Contemporary Art (MIAC), in the Castle of San José".
Perdomo has advanced that he "soon" hopes to give "new and good" news about the acquisition of more artistic work by César Manrique.
