The popular former teacher of the Titerroy School María del Rosario Delfina Hernández kicked off the San José Obrero festivities in the Arrecife neighborhood of Titerroy on Friday night.

After the proclamation, there was a performance by Los Salvapantallas, a group that was born at the end of the summer of 2001 in the urban heart of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria when the members of two of the most emblematic bands in the history of pop-pock in the Canary Islands came together.

Before the reading of the proclamation, the Neighborhood Association wanted to pay tribute to the children of Ca'Mario Lanzarote San José Obrero, where last week they were proclaimed champions of the Canary Islands, receiving the reward for the great work that has been done throughout the season and achieving the classification for the sector phase of the Spanish Children's Championship.

Both the mayor of the city of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, and the Councilor for Festivities, Echedey Eugenio, addressed the neighbors present with a few words, and then inaugurated the Patron Saint festivities.

During these six days of festivities, the little ones will be able to enjoy different workshops, as well as a simultaneous chess game for all ages, the performance of Pepe Benavente, the Canarian Pop Group Los Coquillos, Verbena de asalto, Procession of the Saint through the main streets of the neighborhood.

From the neighborhood collective, they convey "the desire for these days to live days from harmony, enjoyment, tranquility and consideration", "Everyone is invited and those who visit us and make these special days their own"

"We take this opportunity to send a big hug to those people who will not be able to be among us these days, to those who are going through difficult times and to those who shared these parties for years and are no longer with us today", but that "we remember daily and would give anything to have them back by our side", they concluded.
