The neighbor from Tinajo, Rosendo Cabrera, has reported to La Voz the continuous robberies he has suffered on his farm. According to what he has confessed, they have taken between "50 and 100 tomatoes" from his orchard. Tomatoes of "very good quality", he assured the newspaper in an interview conducted on his land.
After traveling to his house and farm in Tinajo, Cabrera showed us the lands he owns and the different vegetables and fruits he grows. Apart from tomatoes, he also has planted pumpkins and pitayas.
"They are tomatoes very similar to the Black Apple and have a special flavor given by the sand", the man points out. Tomatoes that apparently have a different flavor, something that has led some individuals to carry out constant robberies.
In an extensive conversation with La Voz, this wise old man has put into context the difficulty he faces after the robberies, the insecurity he lives with, and the peace of mind that these events have taken away from him for some time.
He assures that these robberies are carried out by several subjects who help each other to get hold of the product. When the man leaves his house during the day, "while some watch, others enter the orchard and pull out the tomatoes to take them away." Then, "they load the tomatoes, get in the car and run away," adds the old man.
In addition, according to the man, it is not an isolated robbery, since "other neighbors around have also suffered some theft." This situation worries him excessively and does not allow him to live in peace.
"I want to rest because of my age but they mortify me," he confesses
The 84-year-old man wants to continue running his orchard, which he acquired in 1975, as until now, something that is complicated after the robberies. "I would like to continue planting, but it is impossible like this." Due to the seriousness of the situation, he has no choice but to "hold the wick or abandon", he says with resignation.
In addition, he acknowledges that he feels helpless and without help: "if I report it, they will laugh at me," he says. An old man who lives alone, has no family and only has the company of his three dogs, and who demands a solution to be calm: "if they wanted to, they could stop it a little."
