The Tenerife Symphony Orchestra closed the 33rd Canary Islands Music Festival in Lanzarote, in the auditorium of Los Jameos del Agua. On Friday night, with the auditorium full, the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra put the finishing touch by paying tribute to the composer from Gran Canaria, Juan Hidalgo.

The event began with the screening of a video where the honoree related a brief biography of how his beginnings in the world of music had been, which he also shared with painting and literature. Subsequently, the concert began with the composition of Charles Ives 1874-1954, The Unanswered Question, giving way to the work composed by Juan Hidalgo himself-1927, Perhaps (In Memory of Charles Ives), closing the concert with the work of Arnold Schönberg 1874-1951, Erwartung Opus 17 (MonoDrama in One Act) consisting of four scenes featuring the intervention of the soprano, Carole Sydney Louis. All this under the direction of Arturo Tamayo, a great master and connoisseur of this musical genre, who from beginning to end under his baton made the 91 musicians sound as one. Work that was rewarded with prolonged applause from the public.

Among the audience was the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, Mª Teresa Lorenzo, the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Pedro San Ginés, the mayor of Haría Marciano Acuña accompanied by some councilors in addition to the festival coordinator Nino Díaz.
