The young woman from Lanzarote Gabriela Rodríguez, at 13 years old, is quite a child prodigy. Originally from Yaiza, she stands out singing and playing instruments such as the piano and the ukulele from a very young age. During a recent interview on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero, she has revealed the various skills she possesses for music. Her skill with the ukulele was discovered during her music classes. "They recommended that I practice it and I like it, I think the ukulele is more fun," she pointed out from the beginning of the conversation.
Trained as an artist since the age of 3, learning piano and music theory, she is currently an expert in everything related to musical art. "Since I was little I was already in music theory and piano classes," she revealed. The decision to turn music classes into a hobby was hers and she communicated it to her family at home. "The idea was mine, it caught my attention a lot and I told my mother that I wanted to sign up," she added.
Instruments are not the only facet in which she stands out, she also does so in singing. "My mother told me to sign up somewhere to train, that I was doing it very well," she explained before the radio microphones. Thanks to the encouragement of her parents, she is now one of the members of the 'Agrupación Folclórica Rubicón', in which she has been acting as a soloist for two years. "They advised me to sign up, but although I was embarrassed, I started singing at Christmas," she added. She has also sung on the RTVC program 'Noche de Taifas', of which she has a magnificent memory.
A young woman who dreams of a promising future as a university student, but without leaving music behind. "I want to study Teaching in Tenerife and continue dedicating myself to music as a hobby," she revealed to the listeners. She is clear that as a "good student", she must get a higher education, with which she also feels comfortable. "Although sometimes I find it boring, I have to do it," she pointed out.
She has been through many piano schools on the island, and now, she continues with the classes she receives at 'Toñin Corujo' in Arrecife. She flatly rules out entering the Conservatory to play the piano. "I don't want to go, I prefer to learn for enjoyment, but not professionally," she declared.
In addition, singing is not the only thing in which the teenager stands out, she also does so in painting. She dedicates herself to decorating the rooms of her house with paintings and various pictures. "I have a wall in the room painted by me, which represents a drawing related to music," she says with a smile. She has also shown her painting skills at the school she attends in Lanzarote, specifically, for a theater performance. "I have made the cover of the 'School Theater Festival', which is held every year," she confessed proudly.
Lover of urban music such as Reggaeton and also of some singers who move in various musical registers, such as the Catalan 'Rosalía'. Dancing is the young woman's pending subject. "I stay a little on the sidelines, I dance, but not as well as I sing," she acknowledges.
