After two decades leaving their mark on the Carnival stages with their humor, criticism and commitment, the Tabletuos murga has announced that it will not be part of the contest in 2026. In an emotional statement, the group takes stock of its trajectory and explains that the time has come to pause some things to "catch our breath and recharge our batteries."

"22 years, 20 carnivals, 2 years missing it from home... 20 finals, many awards," begins the text, which emphasizes that everything achieved has been the result of the affection, effort and enthusiasm of members, families and friends. A journey that began in 2003 and that, they say, will continue to live outside the contest.

"The demands and competitiveness should not outweigh the murga spirit that saw us born," they emphasize, acknowledging that the weight of the name and history of Tabletuos is a burden that they assume with pride, but that also requires taking a conscious pause.

Even so, they make it clear that this is not a goodbye. "In 2026 we will not be in the contest, but we owe ourselves to a motto: Tabletuos never stop." They affirm this with conviction, assuring that they will continue to honor the murga "in every corner, every street, every corner of the island," because the Carnival - they say - has guided them since they were children.

The statement ends with an open invitation to the public: "We invite you to be part of this new stage: different, free, from the street and more ours than ever."

With this announcement, Tabletuos temporarily says goodbye to the contest, but reaffirms its commitment to the murga spirit and to the most authentic Carnival, the one that is born in the street and in the hearts of those who live it all year round.
