Thanks to the support of athletes who paid their registration and participated this Thursday in the Playa Blanca Solidarity Race and the support of collaborating companies and entities that supported this sporting event that ended the year, the Creciendo Association secures 9,598.60 euros in favor of the care of children and young people from Lanzarote with special educational needs, a victory for everyone, for the entire southern society, not only for breaking the record for solidarity fundraising of the event, but also for giving greater visibility to social inclusion and awareness about the different abilities of people.

A spectacular sunny afternoon surrounded the festive atmosphere that brought together dozens of families on the Playa Blanca promenade, so residents and tourists enjoyed the joy and fraternity of the sport and the excitement of cheering on their loved ones in the four distances proposed by the Solidarity Race for different age groups, from children under five years to adults and seniors, the image of young and old united by a noble cause.

In the competitive field, it is worth highlighting the performance of the young athlete from Playa Blanca, Yerove Rodríguez Machín (17 years old), winner in the long distance of the Solidarity Race. Yerove completed the 5 kilometers of the route from Playa Dorada to Las Coloradas, round trip along the promenade, in 16:31 minutes, accompanied in the honor roll by Julie Vettor, the fastest female in this same distance with a time of 18:45 minutes.

The awards ceremony was presided over by the Councilor for Sports of Yaiza, Ángel Lago, the Councilor for Social Welfare and Inclusion of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Marciano Acuña, and Luis Folgar, resident director of the Princesa Yaiza hotel, the lodging complex responsible for the organization of the event together with the Yaiza City Council.

The Institution presided over by Óscar Noda exalts the help of the registered athletes, the collaboration of the sponsoring companies, the always invaluable work of volunteers who provide logistical support in sporting events and the preventive accompaniment services of the Yaiza Civil Protection Group.

The Yaiza City Council also wants to encourage the young people of the municipality to practice recreational or competitive sports, as is the case of Yerove Rodríguez, triathlete and figure of Playa Blanca, who has stood out from an early age in the Canary and national scene and is currently training and studying at the Infanta Cristina High Performance Center, in Murcia, where he is also studying 2nd year of high school. Yerove Rodríguez is part of the Spanish Junior Triathlon Team and this same Thursday upon reaching the finish line he recalled his first participations in the Playa Blanca Solidarity Race as a child.
