The president of 'La Oveja Verde' defends himself: "It's true that it smells like marijuana, but it's not from the club"

The president of the cannabis club 'La Oveja Verde' of Arrecife denies that the smell of weed that the neighbors complain about comes from this place. "It is true that it smells like marijuana on the street, but it is not from the association", he assures.

The head of the club affirms that "the premises meet all the requirements", that "it complies with the regulations" and that the ventilation grille "is well installed". In fact, he confirms that the Local Police visited the association, but points out that "they only took some photos" and that "they didn't" tell him "that anything was wrong". In addition, he points out that, subsequently, technicians from the City Council also inspected the premises and told him "that there was no problem".

The president of 'La Oveja Verde' also does not understand the neighborhood complaints, as he assures that "a month ago" there was "a community meeting", where he showed "all the papers" showing that "everything is correct". "Things are done legally," he insists. In addition, he affirms that it is not true that the grille was recently installed. "It has been there since the club opened, six months ago."

Under study by the City Council

From the Arrecife City Council, La Voz was told this Thursday that the Local Police had inspected the club and had detected that "the grille is not well installed", giving transferred to Classified Activities to demand "corrective measures". This Friday, however, this media has consulted with the City Council again, from where they have now clarified that what "the agents found is that the vent and the way to limit the area did not know if it was within the law" and that it was transferred to Classified Activities so that this department determines if the installation is correct.

"It is not clear and it is being assessed and consulted with technicians from Gran Canaria", they pointed out from the press department, from where they explained that although this type of premises is "exempt from having a license for this type of installations", the vents "must comply with certain measures" and that is what is being "studied".
