The Pequeño Valiente Foundation has inaugurated this Friday morning its first headquarters in Lanzarote with the aim of expanding its support services for those affected by childhood cancer.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, together with the councilor of the Area of Social Welfare and Inclusion, Marci Acuña, were present at this inauguration.
Betancort congratulated all the associations for their valuable role in society and the area of Social Welfare for "always being attentive to any demand." In addition, he highlighted in the act that "this is a small step to give comfort and security to more than twenty families here in Lanzarote. I believe that we must continue to join efforts to ensure that the transfer, treatment and the process in general is as bearable as possible for the children themselves, as well as their families."
For his part, the Councilor for Social Welfare and Inclusion, Marci Acuña, joined the words of gratitude of the president and congratulated the team of his department for "the effort and dedication that have allowed to satisfy the demands of the third sector." "Our commitment as an institution," he added, "is to guarantee efforts with municipal cooperation so that the families of Lanzarote notice this small difference and our great support."
In this sense, the president of the Pequeño Valiente de Canarias association, Jose Juan Jeréz, stressed that "right now we have one more social worker thanks to this physical center and we hope to have a physiotherapist and a fixed dietitian on the island, in person or telematically, and continue to grow and help the affected citizens in the transit of this disease so that they do not feel alone in this whole experience."
Pequeño Valiente Foundation
Pequeño Valiente began its journey in 2006 on the initiative of people whose sons and daughters were hospitalized in the Pediatric Oncohematology Unit of the Maternal and Child Hospital of Gran Canaria and agreed to work together to improve their living conditions in the face of shortcomings they considered existed in the care of minors and their environment.
The foundation defines itself as an autonomous non-profit entity whose main mission is to improve the quality of life of children with cancer and their families, and to try to make the process as light as possible. For more information, please visit their website https://pequevaliente.com/.
