After the celebration of the Eucharist at 8:00 p.m. last Wednesday, the parish priest of the Church of San Ginés, Juan Carlos Medina, blessed the Nativity Scene; a work of art made by the Hernández Fuentes family, with Francisco Hernández at the head. The Nativity Scene, located in one of the lateral naves of the temple, has a much wider structure this year.

When the curtains that covered it rolled to the sides, the public, who was waiting to see the work, burst into applause. Then, the Alborada Encarnación Rodríguez choir, directed by professors Luisa Cedrés and Loli Luzardo, performed traditional Christmas carols. Among the repertoire, "In the Middle of the Night", "Searching in Bethlehem" and "Sweet Child" stood out. Among the members of the choir was Mrs. Conchita Rodríguez, who at 90 years old left the public speechless with a clear, sweet tone of voice and with extraordinary harmony.

The Encarnación Rodríguez choir has a northern flavor. Its first members were mostly from the town of Haría, but it has always been especially linked to the parish of San Ginés. It was here that he began his journey singing the Midnight Mass on December 24, 1983. Since then they have not stopped collaborating with the parish participating in baptisms, first communions or weddings. Today, almost 40 years later, he remains faithful to the appointment to announce with his songs, to the rhythm of Christmas carols, that Christmas has arrived.

The event also featured a large group of catechism boys and girls accompanied by members of the choir of the parish of San Ginés and directed by the religion teacher José Umpierrez. The young people performed the song "La Mula", a song that was sung again on this occasion with the complicity of the public. The members of the choir continued to liven up the night by performing traditional Christmas carols such as "The Fish in the River", "Bells on Bells" and "Merry Christmas."

The parish priest Juan Carlos Medina thanked the Hernández Fuentes family for the days and hours spent carrying out the Nativity Scene and, to the groups that contributed their songs and to the public, their presence at the blessing of the Nativity Scene, which can be visited every day from nine in the morning.
