The Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) has published this Friday an order from the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands approving the modification of the urban taxi fares for application in the municipality of Tías. The new rates will be effective this Saturday, December 3.
According to the order, the secretariat of the Canary Islands Price Commission forwarded to the plenary session on October 28, 2022 all the documentation submitted by the Tías City Council and the new rates to be applied, "which fully comply with the recommendations of the plenary session of the Price Commission." On November 2, the Director General of Commerce and Consumption of the Government of the Canary Islands issued a proposal to approve the rates.
The order details the price list, which must be displayed obligatorily in the vehicle, together with the following clarifications: the flag down, in any of its modalities includes 1,000 meters of route or its equivalent in waiting time; the night flag down will be applicable from 22:00 hours to 6:00 hours; and the holiday flag down applies from 6:00 hours to 22:00 hours on the corresponding holiday.
As explained by the City Council, the modification of the rates affects the flag down, whose daytime rate, which covers from 6 am to 10 pm, is set at 2.55 euros, which translates into an increase of 6.4%. The night rate, between 10 pm and 6 am, is 3.20 euros, 5% more than the price stipulated in the previous rate.
The daytime amount, from 6 am to 10 pm, increases by 10.5% and stands at 2.65 euros and the night rate, from 10 pm to 6 am, increases by 9.84% and the price stands at 3.35 euros.
The rate for holidays, between 6 am and 10 pm, increases by 9.84% and stands at 3.35 euros, while on December 24 and 31 and January 5 the price stands at 3.40 euros, 9.68%.
As for the price per kilometer traveled, it goes to 0.70 euros between 6 am and 10 pm, an increase of 11.50%.
As for the waiting time, between 6 am and 10 pm, the rate increases by 10% and goes to 15.40 euros.
On the other hand, the prices of the supplements for requesting the service through radio-taxi do not vary, remaining at 0.50 euros.
Also must be displayed other clarifications, such as that the minimum amount of perception of the Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve race will be applied, as a single rate, from 22:00 to 9:00 hours for those routes whose rate is less than 5.85 euros. The taximeter jump will be made in five-cent increments and the rates, including supplements, are applicable to those races that start and end within the urban area as defined by the City Council. In other cases, intercity rates apply.
