The Nativity Scene has been, for centuries, one of the most important Christmas traditions in many places around the world. Also in Lanzarote the Nativity Scene is a characteristic element of our houses, towns and cities. In these dates and, to this day, it is still essential in many homes. Generally, the Nativity Scene begins to be assembled before Christmas, traditionally from December 8, coinciding with the feast of the Immaculate Conception, and is kept assembled until February 2, the date of the presentation of Jesus in the Temple and the Catholic feast of Our Lady of Candelaria.

On the occasion of the Bicentennial of the Parish of Our Lady of Candelaria in the town of Tías in 1996, the neighbor Lázaro Martín and his family are in charge of setting up the Nativity Scene with all the decorative elements made by hand; such as the houses, inspired by the popular architecture of Lanzarote, the alcogidas with a moving waterwheel, the small orchards with their corresponding vegetables and the orography of the land with a very Lanzarote touch.

Lázaro, when November arrives, begins to dust off each and every one of the pieces and together with the family begins to make the strokes for the new Nativity Scene, in which each year they are incorporating new figures and where more and more are being imposed those driven by electrical energy.

The Nativity Scene can be visited on Fridays starting at 5:00 p.m. In addition, on New Year's Day at 12:30 p.m. the Eucharist will be celebrated, counting on such a special day with the participation of the Rancho de Pascua de Tías in the Kissing of the Child Jesus.
