The tourist town of Playa Blanca enjoyed its Music Race Night this Saturday, attended by 450 runners plus their companions.

“The enthusiasm we saw and felt in Playa Blanca and the very high participation confirm the potential of sport as an integrating, festive and dynamizing activity for our local economy”, said the mayor, Óscar Noda, satisfied with the overwhelming response from residents of the municipality of Yaiza and residents of other municipalities of Lanzarote who joined the southern call that ended at midnight with the performance of the singer Pepe Benavente.

Before starting the foot race in its three modalities, one mile, 5 and 10 kilometers, Óscar Noda, accompanied by councilors of the municipal government, turned on the Christmas lights on Limones street to decorate the atmosphere enlivened by the group of toque of the Comparsa Los Timanfeiros.

The podium of the queen race of 10 kilometers had Tinguaro Quintero, in the general classification, and María Cecilia Jover, among the women, as its maximum exponents. Tinguaro with a time of 36:15 minutes not only endorsed his victory achieved in 10 km of 2021, but this year he doubled again winning the mile as well.

Aladdin Bouhania was second in the general 10 km, Saúl Rodríguez, third, and Suso Albar, fourth. Suso, a resident of Playa Blanca, had been dragging an injury for months, so his reappearance in positions of honor is good news for his health and sport. In the general women's classification of 10 km, without a doubt, it is fair to highlight the performance of María Cecilia Jover (51:56 minutes), who upon reaching the finish line said how much she had enjoyed the course, and also the good performance of Rossana Spagnuolo and Elena del Toro, second and third, respectively.

“The best satisfaction we can have is that athletes, families and the public are happy, that they have enjoyed, as they openly stated, and that the event continues to consolidate. Sport in Yaiza is a priority and we will spare no effort to continue promoting it through sports schools and sports events with evident island, regional, national and international impact”, says the Councilor for Sports, Ángel Lago.

The 5 km modality was dominated in its order by Hugo Pérez Robayna (20:06), José Carlos Hernández and Akorán Rodríguez, modality in which the women Magdalena Gradwohl (27:11), María Guayllas and Lucía Tejera stood out. In the mile the best classified were Tinguaro Quintero (04:55), Luis Rodríguez and Bruno Castro, while the women's classification was headed by Carla de Marco (5:55), Ana Fiestras and Elizbeth Rosa.

Although the tests were carried out already with the night on top, full of color, music, rhythm and above all good vibes, the warm-up in the afternoon was also very lively by the zumba session led by Fernando Petit. After the three races, and minutes before the performance of Pepe Benavente, the organization proceeded to the delivery of medals to the winners in a ceremony presided over by the Councilor for Sports, Ángel Lago, and the head of the area of Culture, Youth and Equality, Daniel Medina.

Óscar Noda thanks the participation of everyone and the work of the municipal staff and the Triyaiza Sports Club, as well as the work of the Local Police of Yaiza, Civil Protection volunteers and each of the people and entities involved in the organizational scheme of the test that has in the hotel THB Tropical Island of Playa Blanca its main sponsor. All classifications and times are published here  and on the municipal page www.yaiza.es
