The Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital has received a rating of 8.77 points out of 10 from patients admitted in 2023 in the Hospital Discharge Satisfaction Survey (ESAH) conducted annually by the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS).
The objective of this survey is to measure the perceived quality of healthcare activity and to know the satisfaction of patients during their stay in the Hospital.
The results of the ESAH highlight the positive assessment received by the Obstetrics-Gynecology and Onco-Cardio-Hematology wards, which obtain 8.94 and 8.80 points, respectively, from users. Regarding the Services, Cardiology stands out as the best valued, with a score of 9.43, as well as the Oncology service, which receives 9.29 points from the patients surveyed.
The ESAH for the year 2023 was carried out on a sample in which 425 patients participated, of whom 54.7 percent are women and 45.3 percent are men. The largest number of people who participated in the sample are in the age groups between 50 and 69 years and 70 years or older. 68 percent of the users surveyed were admitted through the emergency room and 64.9 percent of them remained admitted for less than five days.
Outstanding for staff attention
The ESAH data reflect that patients discharged from the Molina Orosa Hospital during the past year positively value the care received. In this sense, medical care is considered good or very good by 98.3 percent of those surveyed and 99 percent value the nursing care. Likewise, the treatment of administrative staff and hospital orderlies is considered very positive by 98 and 98.3 percent of those surveyed, respectively.
The survey data show a better assessment by users on aspects related to their stay in the center, such as noise or cleanliness of the rooms, which satisfies 87 and 95 percent respectively.
Likewise, 92.93 percent of users value the hospital signage and say that they found it easy to navigate. Patients positively rate that the staff on the ward address them by name, almost 97 percent indicate this, and similarly 98.81 percent of those surveyed say that their privacy was respected during their hospital stay.
Reception and accompaniment
Another variable that improves is the information to the patient, 96.62 percent say they are very satisfied with the information provided on the evolution of their disease, a higher percentage, 97.11 percent indicate that they were informed and asked for their consent before performing any test or intervention, and the vast majority of those surveyed, 97.78% rate as adequate the information on the care and treatment that should follow at home.
The time for visits from family members satisfies 96.84 percent of those admitted and in the pediatric ward 100 percent positively value the time they have spent with their children.
Information in the delivery room
The care received in the delivery room is especially valued in the survey, since 100 percent of the patients value it positively.
All of the people surveyed agree in pointing out that they have been informed about the care of the newborn and have been given information about the benefits of breastfeeding during their stay in the hospital.
