The pilot from Lanzarote, Carolina Martín, will once again represent the Canary Islands in one of the major national and international aerobatic events. The athlete will compete from June 25 to 27 in the Spanish Aerobatic Flight Championship (CEVA) 2026 and the International Open, which will be held at the La Caminera Club de Campo aerodrome, in Torrenueva (Ciudad Real).
Martín will participate in the Intermediate category at the controls of an Extra 300LP from Unlimited Aerobatics and will also be the only Spanish woman among the three women registered in the competition.
The event will bring together 30 pilots of nine different nationalities and will feature nearly 80 competition flights and a dozen acrobatic aircraft, including two Sukhois, four Extras, an RV8, a Cap, an Edge, and a Super Decathlon.
The championship is organized by the Central Aerobatic Club (CAC) and the Royal Spanish Aeronautical Federation (RFAE). While the CEVA will bring together Spanish pilots, the International Open will feature representation from Portugal, Germany, Slovakia, Egypt, Switzerland, India, the United States, and Argentina.
The competition will include Classic disciplines, in the Unlimited, Advanced, Intermediate, Sportsman, and Basic categories, and will culminate on Saturday with the Freestyle finals in the Unlimited category, considered the most spectacular and demanding discipline in aerial acrobatics.
“Aerobatic flight is a sport where it doesn't matter if you are a man or a woman; we all compete under the same rules and with the same objective, to execute each maneuver with the greatest possible precision before the judges,” highlights Carolina Martín. The pilot from Lanzarote also believes that championships like the CEVA “are fundamental to bringing this sport closer to the general public and awakening new vocations.”
The program will begin with the arrival of the pilots on June 21 and will continue with several days of free practice until Wednesday the 24th. Safety flights will be carried out on Thursday, and the competition will officially begin on Friday, which can be followed live through an online broadcast.
The main day for the public will be Saturday the 27th, with access to the enabled area at La Caminera Club de Campo. On that day, the finals, the Freestyle, an exhibition by the Spanish radio control champion, and the awards ceremony will take place.
In addition to the official competition, the event will host the training sessions of the National Aerobatic Flight Team (ENVA) for the 2026 World Championship, scheduled for August in Mason City, Iowa (United States).
The championship will also feature an international jury headed by Steve Green and composed of leading figures in this discipline such as Guy Auger, Nikolai Nikityuk, Brian McCartney, Luca Andragetti, Eladi Lozano, and Gonzalo Rodríguez
Aerial acrobatics, live and from the inside
The CEVA 2026 will allow spectators to follow the competition from a dual perspective: from the trackside and from inside the cockpit. Attendees will be able to watch the events from the designated areas at La Caminera Club de Campo, while the live broadcast through www.ceva.aero and the Gear Up channel on YouTube will offer on-board images, aerial shots, real-time rankings, and interviews with the pilots.
This coverage has become one of the championship's hallmarks: each year it provides some of the most striking images of aerobatic flight and allows for a particularly clear appreciation of the tension, concentration, and precision required by each maneuver. It is not just about showcasing the spectacle from the outside, but about bringing the public and the media closer to the real demands of a discipline in which every turn, every axis, and every second counts.
“We continue to be committed to hosting this competition, which places Ciudad Real on the calendar for a very unique discipline that combines competition, spectacle, and precision. It is an opportunity to bring a less common sport to the public, but one with an enormous capacity to thrill when experienced live,” states Juan José Martínez, director of La Caminera Club de Campo.
Aerobatic flight with a sustainable touch
The CEVA 2026 is supported by Air BP, the Real Aeroclub de España, Unlimited Aerobatics, Castilla-La Mancha, and Grupo Albión, in addition to the collaboration of La Caminera Club de Campo and Grupo Bacardi.
Air BP once again contributes one of the championship's differentiating elements: for the seventh consecutive year, it will support the compensation of CO₂ emissions associated with the aviation fuel used during the competition, reinforcing the event's commitment to more sustainable aviation.
