The Lanzarote Baila dance school has won 18 trophies at the European Dance Championship, organized by the Spanish Retro Dance Federation.
The six participating couples from the school led by Miguel Medina, composed of Gabriel and Mikaela, Gabriel and Paula, Aitamy and Vania, Fernando and Yurima, Steven and Yureima, Miguel and Lucia, stood out in three categories in the competition, which took place on July 7, 8 and 9 in the Basque Country, and which brought together dancers from all over the continent.
Specifically, the young Steven and Yureima won a gold with their waltz and four bronzes in bachata, tango, pasodoble and chachachá, in the category of 18 to 30 years.
The couple formed by Fernando and Yurima managed to be crowned with the first place in combined dance (waltz, tango and pasodoble); four silvers in Caribbean dance (salsa, chachachá and bachata), pasodoble, waltz and salsa; and three bronzes in the styles of tango, bachata and chachachá in the category of 14 to 18 years. Meanwhile, Aitami and Vania obtained a second place in tango and two third places in pasodoble and Caribbean dance in the same category.
Finally, the youngest, Gabriel and Mikaela, achieved a second place in tango and another in bachata, in the category of 10 to 14 years.
