The Insular Center of Musical Education, which depends on the Cabildo of Lanzarote, has reported the suspension of classes for this Wednesday, October 11 and next Friday the 13th due to the pre-alert for high temperatures that the island is experiencing.

The decision was made after the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports, urgently decreed the suspension of all classes and also extracurricular activity for the aforementioned days.

The measure affects all students and staff as well as the teaching and non-teaching activities of public, subsidized and private centers. In addition to the high temperatures, there is also a pre-alert for haze and maximum alert for risk of forest fires, according to the forecast for the coming days presented by Aemet.

From the Department of Culture of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jesús Machín Tavío has explained that "this measure is adopted from the responsibility towards our students, with which we intend to guarantee their safety during the coming days, in which episodes of high temperatures may be experienced."

According to the forecast, the CIEM will reopen its doors next Monday, October 16, like the rest of the island's educational centers, if the expected weather forecasts for next week are confirmed.
