The concert of the rock group Ilegales, scheduled for this Thursday at the Arrecife Fairgrounds, has been canceled at the last minute due to “flight logistics problems”, according to Fuerteventura Productora y Producciones S.L., which is in charge of producing that event and also the Luis Fonsi concert, which they assure is “still” standing.
Regarding the cancellation of the performance of the Asturian group Ilegales, they point out that until this Thursday they “tried by all means to celebrate it”, but that they have had to cancel it “due to force majeure”.
“The group sent us a statement saying that it was impossible to get to Arrecife for logistical reasons, because when the contest was awarded there was no time left”, they acknowledge from the production company. According to them, the band is performing in Galicia and it was “unfeasible” to land on the island and return to the peninsula in the short time they had, although it was not until the last minute that the cancellation was confirmed.
Fuerteventura Productora y Producciones S.L. is the same company awarded the "star" event of the San Ginés Festivities: the Luis Fonsi concert. "Nobody has spoken of any cancellation here yet. Right now everything is fine, the City Council contract is closed, nothing is being negotiated," the company assures, which maintains that the information that points to the contrary are "lies from the street" and "from the competition that did not win the contest".
However, they have not guaranteed that this event will be held. "I can't tell you anything else. If something happens, the production company will say so in an official statement," they responded when asked that question.
For its part, the City Council has not given explanations of what is happening. La Voz has unsuccessfully tried to contact the Councilor for Festivities, Encarna Páez, and the press office has limited itself to pointing out that "there is no news from the City Council" and that "the concert is on the poster for the 25th".
When asked also about whether the celebration is guaranteed, the answer has been the same again: that "there is no news" and that "the contract is awarded to the production company", referring to it to give explanations.
And they have said the same with respect to the cancellation of the performance of Ilegales at the rock festival scheduled for this Thursday night: "It is a problem of the production company, the City Council had nothing to do with it".
