Aemet activates the yellow warning for this Friday in Lanzarote for coastal phenomena

The General Directorate of Emergencies, based on the prediction of AEMET and/or other available sources, and in application of the Specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands for Risks of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena PEFMA has also declared the alert for coastal phenomena throughout the Canary Islands

The alert for coastal phenomena will be in effect from 03.00 hours on December 15, the General Directorate of Emergencies has reported.

The forecast is for southeast wind force 6 to 7 (39 to 61 kilometers per hour) with large areas of force 8 (62 to 74 kilometers per hour) at sea south of the islands of greater relief, between the western islands and on the west side of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

There will be rough seas, increasing to very rough seas between the islands of greater relief with areas of very rough seas in the western islands and northeast swell of 1 to 2 meters on the coasts open to the north, and of variable direction (east, southeast and south) on the west and south slopes of the islands of greater relief, with waves of 2 to 3.5 meters.

Combined sea waves of 2 to 4 meters and spring tides are expected.

The high tides on Sunday are from 00:25 to 01:00 hours and from 12:45 to 13:25 hours, and on Monday from 01:05 to 01:45 and from 13:30 to 14:10 hours.
