The workers of the Sociedad Democracia of Arrecife have sent this Wednesday a statement responding to the accusations of the president Lorenzo Lemaur Santana, who accused the employees of damaging the society and its members.

The employees have denounced that they have not received the monthly payments for January and February, being "two consecutive months without pay" and that they do not know if they will do so "while the current president is there."

In the aforementioned document addressed to the members, they have highlighted that it is "a pride to belong to this society and work in it." Thus, they have insisted that the staff "respects like any other member", but that it is also "the livelihood" of their families.

The staff has denounced "several irregularities" in the Sociedad Democracia since the arrival of Lorenzo Lemaur as president. Among them, the non-payment of wages in his first month of mandate and they have indicated that "they have not yet received the arrears belonging to that date."

In addition, they have accused Lemaur of carrying out "authoritarian acts" towards the administrative staff, making them feel "uncomfortable in their job." The medical leaves of different workers in recent months have added to the resignations of others and has led to "not having internal administration."

The aforementioned statement has highlighted that, "at this moment, the situation is unsustainable" and that "a large part of the staff" is on medical leave due to different problems, including anxiety attacks.

In this sense, they have added that "working with the current president has become unbearable" and has damaged the health of the workers.

The employees have asked the members that "this situation changes as soon as possible" and that their job "returns to being a suitable place to be able to do our work" for themselves, their families and the Sociedad Democracia itself before it is too late.

The situation of the cafeteria

In the document addressed to the members, they have indicated that from the presidency they have been "asked and demanded on several occasions to unblock the cafeteria of the Sociedad Democracia", but the workers have refused because it is reported.

"Nobody can touch the material that is inside, since it does not belong to the society and we would be doing something, in our understanding, illegal," they have insisted. As a result of this refusal, the workers have accused Lorenzo Lemaur of sending a burofax to the homes of four employees notifying them of the opening of "serious parts" and warning that a second refusal would mean "a very serious fault", where their job would be in danger.

The workers have assured that despite the complaint and the orders of the president demanding "maximum and urgent" priority to the unblocking of the establishment, this requirement "exceeds the legal limits."
