Three years later, the CEIP César Manrique Cabrera of Tahíche recovered the great manifestation of the Canarian traditions in the streets, filling the town with color with more than a thousand people dressed in traditional Canarian clothing.

This Friday's classes took place in the streets Jacinto Benavente, Unamuno, Gracián, Benito Pérez Galdós and in the facilities of the Santiago El Mayor Association. This day there was only one subject "Romería", and for this they had the collaboration of the Teguise City Council, the families of the students and many neighbors who selflessly lent their donkeys and carts. With this collaboration, they allowed the school's teachers to organize an event of great importance in the life of the town, brightening its streets and making centuries-old traditions of music, dance and gastronomy present.

This year the event was marked by a special emotion, since it was not only the youngest who were making their debut in this parade, but also the four and five year olds, who had never enjoyed this school pilgrimage before, which has not been able to be carried out in the last three courses due to the restrictions of Covid 19.

At 09:30 in the morning, the 436 students of the center left their classrooms accompanied by their parents, grandparents, relatives and friends, forming a human tide of more than a thousand people who walked through the streets of the town of Tahíche to the sound of Canarian folklore and behind the floats decorated with autochthonous motifs. Infantil paraded behind the float decorated with the theme "Fruits and Vegetables", First cycle set with "Musical Instruments". And Third cycle with the theme "Gofio Mills". In front of the procession marched the school band that began rehearsing in March with students who did not know how to play the timple and in this time has managed to have 18 timplistas and 17 students in the choir and soloists.

For several weeks the César Manrique Cabrera school was preparing for the great event on the occasion of the celebration of the "Canary Islands Day". The teaching of the timple is an important part of the musical education offered in this center. Not in vain, it was a pioneer on the island within the Timple Teaching Network and one of the most outstanding at the regional level in the development of this discipline, with the teacher Antonio Monzón at the head. At the same time that the band was progressing during recess, families were invited to collaborate in the decoration of the floats in the afternoon. On the other hand, the School of Traditional Dances of the school, directed by Professor Violeta Santos, rushed the rehearsals for the great show that took place this Friday at the destination of the pilgrimage, the sports court of the Neighborhood Association.

All that work had its sample this Friday. The Dance School, staged the most representative of the traditional dances of the islands of La Gomera, Tenerife and Lanzarote that were very applauded by all those present. The school band performed two songs and while the public listened attentively came the time to taste Canarian products, where there was no shortage of gofio, pejines, potatoes, cheese and mojos. The meeting ended with the demonstration of the "Silbo Gomero", carried out by a father and his daughter. After the event, they returned to the school with the collaboration of the Local Police and Civil Protection, guaranteeing safety in the streets during the tour.
