Teresa Hernández Hernández, co-owner of Radio Lanzarote and La Voz de Lanzarote, passed away this Wednesday at the age of 88 in the Insular Hospital of Arrecife, after a clinical condition that kept her hospitalized since last June 21 worsened.

Widow of the journalist and former president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Agustín Acosta, Teresa was a key figure in the early years of Radio Lanzarote, a station to which she dedicated a large part of her life since its founding by Juan Perdomo. Over time, she became co-owner with her husband and held various positions within the media.

Beyond the journalistic company, Teresa stood out for her deep commitment to the Catholic Church and her community. For decades she was a catechist in the parish of San Ginés, leaving an indelible mark on several generations of Lanzarote residents who received with her the catechesis prior to their first communion and confirmation. Her dedication in this area was always silent, constant and generous. Actively participating in the bicentennial events.

In the social sphere, she was an active and beloved woman. Honorary member of the Casino Club Náutico de Arrecife, where she participated for years in canasta tournaments, a game she was especially fond of. She also actively participated in the Arrecife carnivals, forming part of a group of friends with whom she not only shared her passion for this festival, but also the artisanal elaboration of costumes, being recognized on several occasions for her creativity.

As a highlight in her career, she had a brief but significant participation in the insular political life, forming part of the founding group of the Agrupación Insularista de Lanzarote (AIL).

Teresa leaves a legacy of closeness, faith and commitment to her environment. She leaves three children Agustín Domingo, lawyer; and Techy and Alberto Acosta Hernández, both journalists; her daughters-in-law Conchi, Pablo and Marisa; and her grandchildren Alejandro, Diego, Sofía, Silvia, Lucía and Bárbara.

From La Voz de Lanzarote we want to convey our deepest condolences to her entire family and loved ones.

Rest in peace.
