The electoral census has increased by 10,081 people in Lanzarote since 2015. According to figures published in the Cabildo Data Center, as of January 1, 2023, there were 100,106 people with the right to vote on the island compared to 90,025 on December 1, 2015, the year of elections.
By municipalities, Arrecife is where the electoral census has increased the most, specifically by 3,777 people, going from 38,833 to 42,610. In Teguise, which is the second municipality with the most voters, the census has grown by 1,833 people, reaching 15,494 voters. In San Bartolomé and Tías, there is currently an electoral census of 13,716 and 10,770 people, having increased by 1,253 and 1,086 voters respectively since 2015.
For its part, Yaiza has 8,686 voters compared to the 7,713 it had at the end of 2015, that is, 973 more. And finally, in Haría and Tinajo the electoral census has increased by 541 and 618 people, reaching 4,079 and 4,751 voters respectively.
Compared to 2019, also an election year and the year before the pandemic, the electoral census has increased by 3,599 people. The Data Center published that on December 1, 2019, there were 96,507 people with the right to vote in Lanzarote.
These data, however, only refer to the census of Spaniards residing in Spain, that is, of Canarians or peninsulars who live in Lanzarote and of conejeros who reside in the Peninsula. However, to them we would have to add the residents of Lanzarote residing abroad and the voters of the European Union and countries with agreements residing in the Canary Islands.
