The Teguise City Council has decided to suspend the celebration of the Villa Market, scheduled for tomorrow Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., due to the storm warning from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, which has reported that it will enter through the south and west of the island this morning.
“The storm will re-enter on Sunday with great force and a lot of water and there is talk of a subtropical storm from 12 noon on Sunday”, report from the management of the operational unit of the Consortium, who have alerted all the town councils of the forecast of rain and the need to have mobile park and emergency teams on standby during those hours, and even be prepared for the distribution of sacks and tetras, especially in the municipalities of Yaiza, Tinajo, Teguise and Haría.
“Given these adverse circumstances, which will be raised to alert tomorrow, we are obliged to cancel the Villa Market and prepare all emergency devices in Teguise and La Graciosa, for which we are coordinating with the management of the Insular Consortium”, declared Eugenio Robayna, as head of the Market and also of the Security and Emergency area of the municipality. “In this sense, we ask you to follow the recommendations of all those who ensure the safety of the island of Lanzarote and La Graciosa and its inhabitants and remain attentive to official announcements”, added the councilor from Teguise.
