The Teguise City Council decreed this Friday, September 5, the prohibition of swimming on the beach of Caleta de Caballo due to the presence of microbial contamination in its waters. The measure has been adopted after the first analyzes that detected levels not suitable for bathing, which requires the closure of the coast at least until next Monday, when Health personnel will carry out new verifications.

The decision not only affects residents and bathers, but also the festive program of the town. The maritime procession of the Virgen de la Lapa, the central event of the Caleta de Caballo celebrations, has had to be suspended for health safety reasons.

This closure is in addition to the one that recently affected the beach of Caleta de Famara, where after the festivities, levels of microbial contamination were also detected, which forced the limitation of bathing for several days.
