The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, has congratulated the César Manrique Foundation on behalf of the entire Corporation for having been recognized by the regional Government with the Gold Medal of the Canary Islands. "It represents a well-deserved recognition of the work of the institution located in the municipality of Teguise, and which was the place where César Manrique began his artistic career and from where his work continues to be disseminated," he points out in a statement.
“Well-deserved recognition from the Canarian community, which is awarded just one year after Teguise awarded its Gold Medal to the Lanzarote artist for the family and artistic ties that linked him to the municipality,” Betancort wanted to recall, who considers that this new distinction "will contribute to continue promoting values that, indisputably, must be perpetuated and reflected in Lanzarote's future project.”
“Congratulations to the Foundation and to all those who have fought on this island to continue publicizing its genuine stamp, which has been marked in many iconic spaces of Teguise, Lanzarote and the Canary Islands,” added Betancort, who also extended his congratulations to the rest of the winners: Canarian Health Service, Canary Islands Red Cross, the Health Emergency Management Committee, Naviera Armas, the Gran Canaria athlete Carla Suárez, the Association of Olive Oil Producers of Fuerteventura (Olivafuer), the Sagaseta family (in particular the lawyers Fernando and Joaquín, for their work for labor rights), the Romancero Gomero and the television series Hierro
