This has been the surprising sighting of a thresher shark that four divers have had in Playa Chica. One of the "lucky ones" has been Eladio Frías, a man used to being underwater.
The diver recounts how the sighting was: "Some friends that I have in Las Palmas came on vacation to Lanzarote, we went diving and he appeared suddenly." Immediately afterwards, "I happened to look back and saw him coming straight at me and I started shouting at my companions to see him," he says.
"I was happy to have seen him" and also, "I'm already used to swimming with them," so I decided to "follow him a little to take pictures". It was when "he went around us," he reveals.
"I was amazed to see him." Since "it's not usual here in the Canary Islands." Only "a few years ago in La Graciosa a diver met one like that," recalls Frías.
