About twenty first-year ESO students from the Santa María de Los Volcanes-Nazaret school have turned the capital's municipal buses and tourist train into a reading forum on wheels this Monday, where they have continuously read the work "Mararía" by the Canarian writer Rafael Arozarena.

This original initiative, which aims to promote reading, has received recognition and support from the Education and Mobility departments of the Arrecife City Council. This action is part of the center's project called "From Puerto to Femés", because in Arozarena's novel, the protagonist's journey begins in Arrecife and reaches the town of Femés.

The capital's Consistory has highlighted that with this activity they not only made "Mararía" known to the users of the public transport service of Arrecife this Monday, but also that "they have discovered the pleasure of reading and writing from another perspective that will also help them improve reading comprehension and promote a reflective and critical attitude, in addition to knowing the masterpiece of Rafael Arozarena", as explained by the Councilor for Education, Ascensión Toledo. The councilor also pointed out the importance of this type of project that "helps to establish channels of citizen participation between the school and the City Council" and emphasized the need to "involve the educational community and make it participate in everything that happens in the city".

For her part, the capital's head of Mobility, Inodelvia Torres, has positively valued the experience, stressing that projects of this nature "help to know the urban public transport network and discover a more ecological and sustainable alternative for the journeys that are made within the urban area".
