Storm Ivo will leave winds of up to 70 kilometers per hour and waves of six meters in Lanzarote

The State Meteorological Agency establishes an orange warning for this Thursday and maintains the yellow ones until Saturday morning due to waves.

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has extended the warnings for waves for the island of Lanzarote until Saturday, February 1 due to the influence of the passage of storm Ivo, which has left warnings throughout the country. In addition, it has added a new yellow warning for wind from Friday afternoon to Saturday morning.

According to the Adverse Phenomena Bulletin disseminated on Thursday morning, the island will be on orange alert from 6:00 p.m. this Thursday until 12:00 a.m. The probability that the combined sea from the north will bring waves of between five and six meters in this period is between 40 and 70%.

Meanwhile, for Friday and Saturday, the warning turns yellow and the waves may reach up to five meters in height in Lanzarote between Friday morning and 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. According to the Aemet forecast, the wind will be from the northeast at force seven, that is, with gusts of between 50 and 61 kilometers per hour.

The yellow wind warning in Lanzarote will be active from 6:00 p.m. this Friday, January 31 to 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. The wind will especially affect the north and exposed elevated areas of the interior of the island. At this point, maximum gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour may be reached.
