The Yaiza City Council informs of the temporary and preventive closure of Playa del Pueblo in Playa Blanca as a consequence of the wastewater spill that occurred on Thursday afternoon, due to a blockage in a manhole of the sanitation network located in the Mediterranean Park area, which reached the zone.

The beach will remain closed to bathing and access until microbiological analyses confirm that the water meets the appropriate sanitary conditions for its use.

The decision to keep the beach closed is in response to the indications provided by the Health Inspection of the Canary Islands Health Service, which proposes to maintain the prohibition of access and bathing, in addition to signage and public information measures, until the results of the samples determining water quality are available.

Water samples will be taken presumably this Sunday, once the period established by the health protocol has elapsed, and the analytical results will be available on Monday. It will be then when, if the microbiological parameters are favorable, the City Council will proceed to reopen the beach for bathing and public use.

Yaiza asks for respect for the prohibition and to use other beaches in the town, such as Papagayo, Playa Dorada, or Flamingo, until its reopening.
