Last Saturday, the second musical event of the Lanzarote Classical Orchestra took place in this IV Arrecife Classical Concert Cycle sponsored by the Department of Culture of the Arrecife City Council.
Arigatou Japan (Hello Japan), was a musical, scenic and poetic proposal that thrilled the audience that packed the capacity of the Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture, with many people unable to access due to lack of space.
The concert began with the cellist, David Barrera, who explained the program to be performed and the importance of Japanese classical music, so unknown in Europe, but which has often been awarded as film soundtracks. David Barrera has a strong connection with Japan because after studying in Vienna, obtaining recognized awards in competitions and at the end of the course, he visited that country where he was teaching and fell in love with its culture.
Satomi Morimoto made her entrance to the room dressed in the typical Japanese attire, the kimono. This artist, so versatile in music, studied singing in London, although she had previously studied piano in Japan and at only 8 years old composed a beautiful melody as a gift to her mother for Christmas, which she titled Snow. Coincidentally, Satomi Morimoto's mother was present at the concert and the audience gave her a warm applause. This show was seasoned by the mastery of the dancer Ana Beatriz Alonso, based in Tenerife although she studied Dance and Choreography at the University of Madrid, in addition to Journalism and Tourism. Ana Beatriz performed some dance pieces and at times interspersed Japanese verses by important poets. Beatriz, who also taught Spanish Dance and Flamenco in Japan, knows Japanese customs very well. This connection between the three members of the show "Arigatou Japan", was the vehicle that led the audience to travel through Music and Dance to Japan.
The next event will be on Saturday, June 15 at 8:30 p.m. at the Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture with the concert called "Spanish Passion", with flute professor Charina Quintana and guitarist Chema Ramírez.
