The neighborhood association Las Velas of Los Ancones gathered this Friday at the doors of the Teguise City Council to once again denounce the "impassable" state of the only access road to the town's homes. With 30 years of age and the promise of "all the administrations" that have passed through the Teguise City Council, the truth is that the nucleus of Los Ancones "continues to lack some basic infrastructures such as a fixed conditioned access road", the group of neighbors recalled.

The last "supposed quick fix" of the road, "without properly conditioning it", occurred in October 2023. "From there, they have not sent any machinery", added the neighborhood association.

They also point out that, according to the statements of the councilor responsible for the area of Roads and Public Works, Eugenio Robayna, who stated last June after the local elections, that he "promised once Oswaldo Betancort took office as president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, to request again the machinery that was taken from them for agricultural roads and that he would send it without any problem", they revealed.

In short, "we return to the situation of false electoral promises, of neglect and abandonment by the city council and Cabildo towards the town of Los Ancones", they added. "We only exist for the electoral season and to pay the contribution every year"; they stressed from the association and from the group of neighbors.

A protest event that began this Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the door of the Teguise City Council, in which the group of neighbors encouraged the media to attend and cover the concentration to "give voice and visibility to the problematic" situation suffered daily by the residents who live in the town.

During the demonstration, the neighborhood group stressed that they "have not been able to speak" with the mayor of Teguise. According to their version, Olivia Duque has "ignored" the neighbors gathered in front of the Consistory. "She got into a car and left, she didn't face us", commented the citizens present there to La Voz.
