The Councilor for Cleaning, Health and Animal Welfare, Cemeteries, Fisheries and Primary Sector of the Arrecife City Council, Jacobo Lemes, announced this Friday the situation of the three dogs rescued last week in the capital of Lanzarote and who are now looking for a home.

The Arrecife Animal Protection Center is looking for a home for Reina, who is three years old, Koke, who is one and a half years old, and Papi, who is five years old. The animals were rescued by the Animal Protection and Environment Unit of the Local Police of Arrecife from a house in the capital in which they remained locked up without food or water.

The three dogs were transferred to this space, where they were received with affection, bathed and cared for, and this Friday they are ready to be adopted, after their owner renounced them.

Citizens who want to visit the Arrecife Animal Protection Center can do so whenever they want and thus get to know these three dogs or the rest of the more than fifty animals, all dogs and cats, that are housed in the resource.

"I ask you to be responsible when you decide to adopt. We are talking about living beings that need to be cared for and loved. When a person adopts an animal, they have to be aware of what that entails," Jacobo Lemes wanted to highlight through his social networks. "If you are not going to be able to guarantee a life by your side, then don't adopt it."

To conclude, the councilor recalled that leaving animals permanently in a confined space can be a serious offense with a fine of between 10,001 euros and 50,000 euros, according to Law 7/2003 on Animal Welfare. In addition, he thanked the role of the agents who found these dogs.
