The Ministry of Social Rights, Equality, Diversity and Youth of the Government of the Canary Islands has awarded the second prize to the individual Young Canary Islands award to Redwan Baddouh Bejja, from Arrecife, for his career and personal involvement in participating in associative, educational, social and neighborhood movements in Argana Alta.

The award to the Lanzarote native is framed within the Young Canary Islands Award and Prizes 2022 that the ministry allocates to recognize trajectories of services and relevant actions of a social, cultural, artistic, scientific or sports nature, or of entrepreneurship in favor of the Canarian youth. The award and prizes are scheduled to be presented at an official ceremony on Friday, September 23, in the municipality of Los Llanos de Aridane (La Palma).

As stated in the jury's report, the "Young Canary Islands" Award 2022 is granted to the Soy Mamut Cultural Association, in recognition of its more than ten years of "intense, committed and constant" activity in the socio-educational field through the promotion of volunteering, solidarity and responsible leisure, among others.

In the Collective award category, the work of the Nahia Assistance Association is recognized, which since 2015 has been helping and accompanying young people who have been under guardianship or at risk of social exclusion. Through different programs, Nahia accompanies young people who leave the protection centers when they turn 18 and facilitates their socio-labor inclusion, in addition to offering accommodation resources and healthy leisure activities.

A second prize is also awarded to the Collective Award to the Association of Volunteers for Nature Aid of Fuerteventura (Avanfuer), thus recognizing its 17 years of committed work in defense of nature, the territory, the coast and the marine space, the natural values of the island of Fuerteventura, and those of the Canary Islands in general.

The Individual award goes to Naroe Valls O'Shanahan, who for more than 20 years has been involved in youth and cultural associative movements and has launched more than 1,000 projects and initiatives in favor of the youth of the Canary Islands. In 2012 he received the National Youth Award in Entrepreneurial Initiatives in the field of employment, awarded by the Ministry of Education of the Government of Spain through the Youth Institute.

In general terms, the jury's report also states that "all the entities and people registered and participating in this call transmit passion for what they do, believe in it and give the best of themselves in each action", so all "are deserving of these recognitions."

The Government of the Canary Islands established these awards in the year 2000, with the purpose of recognizing and promoting the actions carried out by entities or individuals, to promote social participation, autonomy and quality of life of the youth group, and promote, through social recognition, the continuity of these actions.
