The Lanzarote Red Cross celebrated the 84th birthday of one of its most veteran volunteers, Fernando Olmeda, this Monday, surprising him at his home in Arrecife.
With the sirens on, numerous vehicles of the NGO, accompanied by Civil Protection of San Bartolomé and Yaiza, left the Fairgrounds until they reached Fernando's home, where in addition to congratulating him and singing happy birthday, they gave him a cake and various gifts.

"He is a very dear colleague," said a Red Cross colleague, who explained that, as a person at risk, Fernando cannot accompany them helping in the fight against Covid-19 "as he would like." "It is a great pride," said the honoree.
"In gratitude for the years you have been stealing smiles from us and earning a place in our hearts and that the perpetual happiness that you give us continues to accompany us for many more years," read one of the gifts that the Red Cross gave to Fernando.
