For the second consecutive year, blogger and surfer Marlene Merle is collaborating with the Lanzarote Red Cross in organizing aquatic activities for children who have been selected by the institution. The solidarity project 'Dreams of the Ocean', which last year held surfing lessons, this time takes place an intensive swimming course.
The objective of this activity is to bring the children closer to aquatic sports, "demonstrating that water contributes significantly to the personal development and evolution of children". Thus, from July 23 to August 22, 14 boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 12 will learn to swim during 14 intensive classes with the team of professionals from the Aqua & Sports Lanzarote Center.
Like last year, the activity is fully funded by the cryptocurrency called Steem. Through their votes - a 'like' as it is known in other social networks - the users of the applications Steemit.com and Fundition.io have generated the necessary funds for the development of this course.

"When Marlene came to our facilities and presented the project to me, the development of events was so fluid that I said, who wouldn't want to participate and collaborate in this project? It is so important for us that children develop their motor skills and abilities through this sport, as well as their personal growth, that joining it was very easy. In addition, knowing that it was aimed at the less favored families chosen by the Red Cross further strengthened our commitment to the project and we did not hesitate as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility to join forces and collaborate in this magnificent purpose", says the director of Aqua & Sports Lanzarote, Jonai Díaz.
For her part, the president of the Red Cross in Lanzarote, María del Mar Romero, wishes to convey "the institution's gratitude to all the people and collaborating entities that have made it possible for the second consecutive year, children from families with economic difficulties who cannot afford a swimming course for their children, can see through these actions how they receive this important training that, in addition to providing personal development, guarantees safety in an aquatic environment".
The activity will conclude on August 22 with a festive event for the participants and their families in the pavilion of the Aqua&Sports Center in Costa Teguise
