Public Health has once again prohibited swimming at Las Cucharas beach due to "high contamination", according to the Security and Emergency Consortium.
The red flag will remain hoisted "until further notice from the Health Department", after detecting a high concentration of bacteria in the sea.
The main beach of Costa Teguise is once again closed to swimming, after recently suffering other similar episodes. The last one occurred earlier this month and the previous one just a few days before, during the passage of Storm Hermine through the island.
Public Health has confirmed to La Voz that the bacteria found in the water, in samples collected this Wednesday, are enterococci. The tests will be carried out again this Thursday to determine if the presence of these bacteria has decreased and it can be reopened, or if it should remain closed.
