The Government of the Canary Islands, through the General Directorate of Emergencies, declares a pre-alert situation for rain and coastal phenomena in Lanzarote. This decision is made taking into account the information provided by the State Meteorological Agency and other available sources, and in application of the Specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands for Risks of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA).

The warning for rainfall is activated from 9 pm this Saturday, December 21. Rainfall is expected in the form of rain and showers. The latter could be locally strong and stormy during the night and the first half of Sunday. Rainfall is also likely to reach 15 mm in one hour.

The pre-alert for coastal phenomena is activated at midnight this Saturday. There will be wind force 5 - 6 (30 - 50 km/h) from the northeast, turning to the east in the afternoon in Lanzarote. Strong swell and north or northwest groundswell of 2 - 3.5 m. Combined sea swell of 3 to 4 meters
