Playa Blanca Avenue was dyed pink on the occasion of the celebration of the VI Walk Against Cancer. The 500 participants gathered in the Plaza de Playa Blanca next to the church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen at 11:00 am, at which time the mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, welcomed them and encouraged them to continue participating "because all together we will achieve the objectives so that cancer patients receive their treatments in Lanzarote without having to travel to other islands."

Immediately afterwards, the president of the Association of Oncohematological Families of Lanzarote (AFOL), Carmen Arrocha, read the manifesto in which part of all the shortcomings suffered by cancer patients and the promises broken by the Health Service and the political class of the island are collected, who "do not transfer the requests that have been presented from AFOL on behalf of all patients." The manifesto included some heartbreaking experiences, mostly of women with cancer, and when Carmen wanted to read it, her words broke, ending in tears, and in the silence, deafening applause encouraged her to continue reading.

Then the percussion of the batucada Los Timanfeiros, directed by Willi Morales, began to sound, followed by all the participants, walking along Limones street, continuing along the entire Marítima avenue and returning to the starting point with a total of 5 kilometers of route before the watchful eye of the tourists, many of them applauded as the participants passed.

Carmen Arrocha presented a painting to the mayor Óscar Noda for his collaboration, putting all the available means for the development of the walk, and it was also presented to a member of the batucada for his collaboration.

Carmen Arrocha started the walk accompanied by Óscar Noda, Ángel Domínguez, corporation colleagues representing the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Isabel Martín, Councilor for Social Welfare of the Cabildo.

At the end of the walk, the members of the batucada Los Timanfeiros played the instruments again, putting the finishing touch to a day marked by solidarity. With this event, about 5,000 euros have been raised.
