The Lanzarote Limpia association joined forces again last Sunday, October 11 to clean El Cable beach. More than 26 people of all nationalities and ages participated in the activity to raise awareness by removing waste present "in the fragile environment of Lanzarote."
In addition to the cleaning work, a collection of non-perishable food was carried out, which was delivered to the Argana Viva Neighborhood Movement so that it, from its solidarity food distribution commission, can continue the work they have been carrying out since the beginning of the pandemic.

"The members of both associations believed that it was important to join forces in the fight to help the most vulnerable families on our island. Therefore, we took the opportunity to carry out two solidarity actions in a single day," said Aduén Morales, one of those responsible for the initiative. "It is not the first collection of non-perishable food that we have carried out from Lanzarote Limpia, and it will not be the last," he added.
"It is worrying to find so many wipes"
In the cleaning activity carried out, "many cigarette butts, toilet paper, cans, plastic bottles and, above all, many bath wipes" were removed, according to Lanzarote Limpia, from where they point out that, given the latter, many of the participants expressed their concern.

"It is surprising and worrying to find so many wipes. We suspect that there must be a drain in the vicinity, because there would be no other explanation for the presence of so many," they indicate from the group.

Once the activity was completed, all the waste, already classified, was deposited in the corresponding containers, and a surprise raffle was held, the prizes of which included breakfast for two people and a manicure.

The association leaders invite all citizens to join in future activities. To find out about upcoming actions, they encourage you to follow their Facebook page: Lanzarote Limpia.
