The Cabildo de Lanzarote has announced the opening of the Papagayo camping area. This area will remain open from this Monday, July 10 to September 17. Reservations can be made on the web or by calling 828 181 555 during office hours.
The president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, visited the facilities of the Papagayo Camping Area and was pleased by "the inter-administrative collaboration between the two institutions that ensure that this space is offered." In this sense, he thanked the Yaiza City Council "for its willingness to provide the necessary resources to maintain this activity that benefits the island of Lanzarote."
He also congratulated the area's councillor for "his commitment to making this announcement possible today after a few days of work, demonstrating that with desire and diligence, administrative and technical procedures can be unlocked to provide the Isa with a very positive leisure offer, with the commitment to improve this space considering its aesthetic and landscape relevance as a protected area."
For his part, Samuel Martín, as councillor of the Papagayo Camping, among other areas, was "satisfied to be able to bring forward the opening of the campsite, which was scheduled for August, so that campers can enjoy this magnificent space as soon as possible."
Daniel Medina also attended the visit as first deputy mayor of Yaiza, who thanked the Island Council for "the predisposition of the new Government group to open the campsite as soon as possible" and offered his hand to "collaborate in the repair of roads and the surveillance of the natural monument and its beaches."
The campsite has 284 plots, of which 64 are for huts and tents (approximately 3x4 meters), and 220 plots for caravans, motorhomes and large tents (approximately 7x9 meters). The camping area will have water, electricity, bathrooms and showers, security and deposits for chemical toilets.
The reservation price will be nine euros per day for residents and 11 euros per day for non-residents for plots for motorhomes or trailers (maximum four people). For plots for camping in a hut (maximum 4 people), it will be 6 euros for residents and 8 euros for non-residents per day. For a fifth extra camper (over 14 years old), the price will be two and three euros per day for residents and non-residents, respectively.
